Bert took our students down to Daytona beach for Student Life Camp. They had such a great week and learned so much from David Platt and Drew Worsham!
While he was gone the girls and I headed over to Toccoa to spend the week with my parents and Katherine and kids! We had a fun week too!!
On Monday night we took the kids swimming at a neighbor's pool. This was Abby's first time to swim. She was a fan!
We had her in this little float thing, but she doesn't quite have enough upper body strength yet to hold herself up so we were holding her up the whole time. I liked her little chubby cheeks in the picture below.
Love my little snuggle bug. Just over 4 months.
The big kids had fun jumping in! They wanted me to count and then just as it was time to go Hannah shouted that she wanted to go by herself. She did this every time. :)
Hannah jumping in once everyone was cleared out.
Claire was just being extra cute one morning and I had to take her picture. Good gracious. 2 year olds are so stinking adorable, especially when they're not in the middle of a tantrum, and sometimes even then.
Ressie Roo and Claire Bear pulling out all of Mimi's spices.
My parents have been in their house for about 16 years or so and they've been talking about having a pond and driveway put in in front of their house ever since (the driveway they poured when we moved in comes up to the side of their house). It's finally happening. They were pouring the front driveway while we were there. They started pouring both days at 6:30 in the morning and the kids looooved watching the action. It really is an interesting process. I can see how they were so fascinated.
They made a fort with Mimi and Papa's bedspread every.single.day during rest time. We were impressed with their fort making skills.
My mom took off on Tuesday and spent the day with us. She had a fun scavenger hunt planned for them. The first stop on the scavenger hunt was the park.
Jacob was at a swimming camp in the mornings all week so he missed out on the scavenger hunt but we got to have lots of fun with him in the afternoons and evenings.
Emily was our clue reader and she did a great job.
After the park our next stop was the Java Station where we enjoyed lemonade and muffins.
The last stop on the scavenger hunt was the library for story time. Claire stood like this for a long time...she was standing right by the door, with her hand over her mouth. She wasn't too sure about all the activity. She finally warmed up enough to walk across the room and sit in Mimi's lap.
This is what the big kids were doing while Claire was standing in the back. They had fun!!
On Thursday evening we took the kids out to ride bikes on the new driveway.
Mimi and I took turns running along with Emily. It had been about a month and a half or so since she last rode her bike and she was needing a littler refresher. Running along with a little person while they are learning to ride a bike is harder than you might think. It requires focus and using muscles that I don't usually use....thankfully it's usually Bert's job.
Hannah was loving life on her little bike. Cutie!
Papa got home from work and Emily wanted him to help her ride one time before we headed in. Only the best Papa's chase down their granddaughters on bikes in 90+ degree weather while they still have on their work clothes.
Before we headed in for the night we went over to check out the dock on their new pond. We all gave it a thumbs up. Their front yard is looking so great!
Thanks to Mimi and Papa for letting us invade!! We all had a fun week in Toccoa!
