These Days

Hannah dressed up like a 100 year old for the 100th day of school!

Abby likes helping her Daddy in the yard of Friday's when her sisters are in school!

Rhonda Vaughn, a lady in our church, bought Abby this cute dress!

These two are inseparable these days...

The girls wanted to eat their snack outside one afternoon so had to take a picture of them looking so cute sitting on the wall.  They're getting so big so fast I can hardly believe it sometimes!

Bert surprised all 5 of us with flowers and cards when we woke up on Valentine's morning!  He loves his girls!

Don't Emily and Hannah look sweet and matchy, matchy in their bunk beds?!

We had Breleigh over for a playdate one afternoon, while Hannah was at a playdate at Penny's house.  Hannah made it back home for the picture though and enjoyed playing with them for a little bit!

Bert sent me this picture of the girls doing homework one night while I had run out to buy some groceries.  Sweet things!

Abby and her friend, Hunter have fun in the nursery together!

Hannah and Emily dressed up as "Misty" and "Mary Poppins" for book character day.  I didn't spend any money (obviously) or much time on their costumes, but they were excited and I did put buns in both of their hair that Friday morning so there's that.

Hannah had lost her front tooth the night before she was "Misty" and she was excited about going to school and showing Mrs. Hiller!

Bert built them a blanket fort one Saturday morning!  They played in it for hours!

The finished product!

Found Hannah reading to her sisters one afternoon!  I love having little readers!!  It's the sweetest!

If you can't find us, look in our cul-de-sac!

Claire and Jazmine, a friend from church!

Emily's teacher posted this picture of her 3rd grade class and I thought it was such a fun one I had to include it!

While Emily is in her piano lesson her sisters play in her teacher's back yard.  They got this new swing for Christmas and the girls love it!  Abby and Claire cheer when they hear we're going to piano because they love playing in Mrs. Heather's back yard!  Ha!

February was a great month and we're thankful for it!

Hannah – 7 years

It's hard to believe that Hannah is 7!  It feels like just yesterday that we packed up our apartment in Wake Forest and moved to Greenville with our 3 month old (and 2 year old)!  We are so thankful and blessed for that the Lord is doing in and through our Hannah!

Here a few things that we treasure about our 7 year old:

-She's a good friend and loves to have playdates or hang out with friends at church!  I think she would say her best friends are Penny and Violet.

-She loves to play outside, especially ride her bike.  She also loves to play on a certain tree in our back yard that Hannah and her friend Penny named "nature."  Ha!

-When we go on family walks on the golf course Hannah and Emily ride their bikes and love it!  We walk (ride) a 2 mile route and they do a great job!  They ride on ahead of us a little ways and we tell them where to stop and wait on us to catch up.  They love having check points...I think they feel big that they're out riding by themselves (kind of).

-Hannah loves dance class and looks forward to it each week.  This is the first year she and Emily have been in the same class, which seems to be working out just fine!

-She's a night owl for sure, although she doesn't get out of her bed much at night after we tuck her in.  She reads in bed for awhile, plays with her dolls and listens to stories that Emily makes up and sometimes long after we thought she was asleep she come to the stairs and tell us in a sad voice that she can't go to sleep. Bert just tells her to lay back down and count to some large, random number (5,654). In the morning she is tired and groggy no matter what time she wakes up or what time she went to sleep the night before. She just doesn't love waking up!  Ha!

-She sleeps with about 853 things in her bed.  I help her clean out her bed of the stuffed animals, dolls and books and in a day all these things are back.  It's crazy!

-She's the biggest Georgia fan Bert's got in our house right now.

-She wants a dog sooooo bad!  She gets so excited when we see a dog and always asks the owner if she can pet it.  She wanted to start a puppy club for our friends that have dogs "so that their dogs could play together."  She says she wants a Golden Retriever, but she'll take any kind of dog.  Sweet thing!

-She's progressed so much with her reading this year.  She's reading some chapter books and has recently started reading Charlotte's Web.  Go Hannah!

-She loves dresses and wears one most days (with leggings).

-Her favorite fruit is apples and she even wants to eat the core.

-She's in Mrs. Hiller's class this year, which we are so thankful for!  Mrs. Hiller is a wonderful teacher, with so much experience.

-She's had a fear of fires for a little over a year now.  The fear seems to come and go.  A few months ago she was soooo scared to fall asleep at night because she was convinced we were going to have a fire at night.  It broke our heart to see her struggling with such fear.  We prayed with her so many times for God to calm her heart.  Sweet thing!

-She was picked to play "The Old Woman Who Lived In the Shoe" in her school play.  The whole 1st grade is singing but only about 12 kids have speaking parts.  We are proud of her hard work and excited about seeing the play!

-She has 3 friends from her class who have been going to Good News Club (a Christian club that meets on Thursday afternoons after school from 3-4).  Her friend Violet invited her to join them so she started going sometime in February! She LOVES it and looks forward to it every week!  Bert and I love the gospel truths they talk about each week.  They learn fun songs and play games and Hannah loves to come home and tell us about what she learned that week.

-Hannah is THE most tenderhearted human being I know. She's quick to cry at a movie, a book, a story, or watching a babysitter walk out the door after a fun evening.  She doesn't usually cry for long, but I love it that she shows her emotions so easily.  I think many of us need to do it more!

-I LOVE her freckles and her smile lights up her face and melts my heart!  The fact that she has a front tooth missing right now only makes her more adorable and makes me want to take extra pictures of her.

-She loves movies and shows and is often the first to ask for one, even though the answer is often no.

-The other night we were in the church gym before MC Kids started on Wednesday night and the girls were playing with basketballs at one end of the court while some high school guys were playing on the other end.  Hannah and I had this conversation:
Hannah - "I bet people think I'm a professional basketballer."
Me:  "You think?"
Hannah - " Yeah, because of my dribbling....but they don't know I can't shoot!!"

-She loves to pray – at the table, in the car, when we have guests over, at church – anytime!

-Her nicknames are Hannah Beth, Hanney, and Han and she's called one of these often (by Bert and me anyway)!

Hannah's Birthday Party

We had a birthday party with a few of Hannah's friends (and their families) on Saturday, February 16th!

Team Watts just before everyone arrived....

I caught Mimi reading to Abby that morning.  Abby insisted on wearing her fanciest dress to the party.  Ha!

The kids enjoyed pizza and fruit before they started playing!

The party fell on a beautiful day in February, which made her party so much more fun!  They played in the cul-de-sac and in the back yard for hours!

A gust of wind blew her candles out right as she was about to blow them out!  Ha!

Abby, Emily, Rachel, Katelyn, Hudson, Hannah, Millie, Penny, Violet, Violet's sister, Claire and Titus!

We had a fun afternoon celebrating Hannah with friends and family!  We love you, Hanney!

Daddy–Daughter Dance

Paris Elementary had their first ever Daddy–Daughter dance on February 15th and the girls were soooo excited about it!  Papa came over so that they would both have a dance partner!

After the big girls left for their dance Abby wanted to put a dress on and wanted her hair curled.  When she asked if I would curl her hair I said "yeah, I'll curl your hair a little bit."  And she said "no, a lot of bit." Ha!

Claire wanted to wear sponge rollers to bed that night so that her hair would be "really curly tomorrow."

At the dance!

Hannah and her friends, Penny and Kaia!  Sweet little first graders!:)

We love our principals!  The girls give Ms. Gerrard (our assistant principal) a hug every morning and every afternoon.  She's wonderful!  She asked to take this picture with Emily and Hannah!

It was a fun event and they had a GREAT turnout!  It sounds like they'll definitely be doing it again next year, which Claire is excited about!

Flu Fun

Claire came down with the flu in early February.  We got her on Tamiflu really quickly,  her fever hardly reached 100 and that was for only one day, and then she was as good as new in a few days.  She doesn't look great in this picture, but this was before any medicine, right after we were leaving the doctor.  Poor nugget.

We surely thought we were in the clear but then 5 days after that....

Hannah got the flu and it hit her much harder.  I took her to the doctor on Tuesday morning to confirm the flu diagnosis and so she could start Tamiflu.  Her cough was much worse than Claire's and she seemed to feel worse for sure.  On Wednesday morning I took her BACK to the doctor for them to check her lungs again.  Hannah is prone to get pneumonia and I didn't feel comfortable with how she sounded or felt.  They confirmed that she did have pneumonia and I'm so thankful that I took her back that morning before she could get even worse.  The flu usually comes with a cough, so it was a little confusing, but I'm thankful God put it on my heart that it was worse than normal.

The week that Hannah had the flu the weather was absolutely beautiful, but thankfully she didn't care too much.  I quarantined that sweet girl in our room (Bert and I slept on the couch in the living room) from Tuesday though Friday.  I came in to bring her food, drinks, medicine, etc, but she was mostly by herself....poor nugget!  Her sisters missed her and played outside on the porch so that she could see them.  She loved it!

Aunt Carrie heard about what a hard week she was having and sent her balloons and a new bear.  It made her day for sure!

Hannah made these sweet notes for Bert and me on Friday.  By then she was feeling much better and was getting downright tired of staying in our room.

She got to sleep in her bed on Friday night and I did a deep clean of our room.  I think Emily was the most excited of anyone to have her sister back in their room.  The flu was definitely not fun, but we were soooo thankful that it stopped with Hannah!

Hannah's Birthday

Hannah's birthday (February 14th) fell on a Thursday this year!  Bert went to the school to read several books to her class and then eat lunch with her.  She loooved having him there!

It was a beautiful afternoon so we played outside after school.  This girl loves riding her bike and she's great at it!

She opened presents and cards after we came in and her sisters helped her open!

Hannah asked for meatloaf as her birthday meal.  I was a little surprised, but that's what she got.  Here is a picture halfway through dinner.  The girls get to use the birthday plate for the week surrounding their birthday and it is one of their favorite traditions now.

After dinner we enjoyed the delicious cake that Mrs. Sonja made for Hannah.  It was a chocolate chip pound cake and we enjoyed every bite!  It was so sweet of her to make that for Hannah!

Mimi and Papa drove over on Friday (the day after her birthday) so that Papa could go to the father/daughter dance with Bert and the girls.  We celebrated Hannah again with a few more presents before the dance though!

Hannah you are loved and treasured and we couldn't be more thankful for you!  Happy birthday, sweet girl!
