These Days

March has been great and has gone by fast!  I've especially enjoyed it staying light for longer.  Just yesterday we started getting some warmer weather back and I have been sooooo excited about it!

My mom and I have been talking about wanting to let the girls have some one-on-one Mimi and Papa time for awhile now, but haven't actually made it happen until this month.  We started it off with a Hannah weekend in Toccoa.  She had so much fun!  She got to do some wedding planning, since Stanley and Alisha were also in Toccoa that weekend.  She even got to do the cake testing with them and since my girl loves all sweets she was very excited about this activity!

She and Mimi baked cookies one night and then Hannah, Mimi and Papa played Go Fish.  On Saturday she got to have some play time and Aunt Katherine's house.  Ressie taught her how to pick up a worm.  Hannah wasn't too sure, as you can see in the picture below.  Mom also sent me a picture of Ressie holding a worm and she was smiling from ear to ear.  The contrast made me laugh out loud.  I guess that's what having an older brother will do for ya!:)

She also got lots of snuggles.  She looks happy doesn't she!? We missed this cute girl that weekend, but we were so glad she had so much fun!!

Claire walked up to me dressed like this one afternoon and thankfully I had my phone near by so I could take a picture.  This is a keeper for sure!

Bert surprised the girls by eating lunch with them one day in early March!  They were both so excited to see him!

Abby loves dress up clothes these days.  She's wearing some type of dress up clothes 80 percent of her waking hours.  And it just occurred to me that Emily and Hannah have kind of out grown it.  They rarely dress up anymore.  Claire is somewhere in the middle.

Emily has been begging to take piano lessons for awhile now. A couple ladies at church have taught her a few easy songs and she plays them often.  We're planning on her starting lessons in the fall, but I need to find a teacher.  Bert got this picture of her focusing one afternoon and I thought it was sweet!

Claire got these fake flowers from Aunt Alisha's wedding shower and has enjoyed playing with them.  They have been the centerpiece in her pretend tea parties.  And Abby got some Paw Patrol balls (the red one was one of them) from Aunt Alisha and Uncle Stanley for her birthday and they have been a big hit!

Bert had the girls fill out March Madness brackets with us this year.  He took each girl into our room and called out their two options to them game by game.  They were so excited!  The final standings for this year had me winning (!), followed by Bert, then Claire, then Emily and then Hannah. The three girls were really not all that far behind us. It's impressive to me that they did so well since Bert wasn't even telling the girls each team's seeding for the tournament.  Now that I think about it, we should probably deduct some points from our scores just to even it up.

Emily's teacher Mrs. Windham sent this to me one afternoon.  Emily had written this to her on the back of one of her worksheets.  So sweet!

Claire made a paper kite in preschool one day but had to wait several days to use it since it was cold and rainy.  When it was finally pretty one afternoon she was definitely ready!

Trampoline jumping fun! They think the static in each others hair is hilarious.

Abby flies down the slide and lands on her bottom every time. It doesn't seem to bother her though. I guess she does have some extra padding down there. (The diaper, that is!)

Cute girl!

They are liking the see-saw this spring!  And yes, Abby is wearing socks in the mud.

When Emily and Hannah would come home from preschool they had the same little blue bag as Claire has in the picture below. They almost never remembered or cared to show me anything that they had colored or made.  Sometimes I would sit them down and have them show me so that I could brag on them, but mostly they really didn't care much about it.  Claire is the opposite.  EVERY SINGLE DAY that she has preschool.... just after she has walked in the door, before she even takes her coat off, she drops to the floor and pulls out everything in her blue bag.  She's so proud to show me what she has done. And I love seeing it!

Claire made a card for Mimi and then asked me to take this picture and send it to Mimi so that she could see the marker on her hands (from her work on the card).  She asks me to take her picture at least once a day and as soon as I take it she says "Can you send it to Mimi?  She will love it!"

Emily was nervous about something she had to do one morning at school so I decided we would go eat lunch with her so that I could check on her and tell her I was proud of her!  Bert and I are not be best about eating lunch with them regularly, but I realized while doing this post that we've done it twice this month!  Go us!

Abby was being fussy one morning when I was trying to fold laundry so I plopped her up on top of the washer and let her sit in the middle of my folded piles.  (I was inches away from her the entire time.) It calmed her right down.

Emily's class took a field trip last Friday to the downtown library and Bert got to go!  He enjoyed getting to be with her and meet some of her classmates!

Emily and Samantha...

After the Easter egg hunt at our church, Stephanie Boyle took Emily and Hannah (along with Samantha and Penny) to a cooking class led by the preschool teacher (Mrs. Hagens) at the girls' school. The cooking class was at Mrs. Hagens' house and the girls had so.much.fun!

Since we ate lunch with Emily we headed back up to the school to eat lunch with Hannah a couple days later.  Claire was in preschool (Hannah eats at 10:30), and was annoyed when she found out she missed out on going (I didn't tell her).

Me:  Who are you talking to?
Abby:  Wessie (Ressie)

Claire asked me to take this picture of her and send it to Mimi.  She was laughing because she said Mimi was not going to know who it is.  Ha! :)

Hannah had a short field trip to a local fire station last week.  They were only at the fire station for 45 minutes but had fun!

Hannah has been nervous about this field trip and has been nervously talking about it for months.  We have been promising her for months that one of us would definitely go on this field trip with her.  THEN, I accidentally turned our chaperone form in 4 days late.  There were two different dates on the form and I just looked at it wrong.  Anyway, I wrote a note to her teachers apologizing for our form being late and asking if there was any way Bert could still meet them at the fire station. Thankfully they said it was no problem at all!  Close call!

Hannah's class making a silly face in front of the fire truck.

Bert said at the very beginning of the trip that Hannah had some watery eyes while they were watching a video at the station, but after the video she was totally fine for the rest of the field trip.  He said she just jumped up in the fire truck and walked through it like all the other kids and then didn't even need help down.  Go Hannah!

Hannah said her favorite part was when they extended the ladder up as far as it would go and then watched one of the firefighters climb up it.

Well it finally warmed up around here during the last week of March and we have enjoyed every moment of it!!

I got this picture of Emily and Abby and I think they look alike.

We love outside snack times after school!

Days spent playing outside with my babies are my favorite kind of days!!
