Trip to see Mimi and Papa Stan

As usual, we had a great visit w/ my parents last weekend!  Emily had a runny nose on Saturday and to say that I didn't like it would be an understatement.  My sweet girl hasn't been sick yet and for that I am so thankful.  My mom was laughing at me a little and said "Steph, you do know that she is going to get sick don't you?"  Yes, I know that, but I don't have to like it. :)  It was only a one day thing...she was totally fine again on Sunday.  Never ran a temp.  Probably teething, but who knows??  Anyway, here are some pictures from our time together.

Emily helping Papa Stan grill.  I don't really think she was much help, but he certainly enjoyed having her out there with him.

Emily loves touching her toes these days.  Here she is showing Mimi how she can do it while drinking her bottle.

Misty, Ashley, Kim and Lauren were having a college (UGA) friends get-together last weekend at Kim's house.  I was so excited when I found out that they were doing it the same weekend that we were going to be in T-town.  Emily and I were able to stop by and see them for a little while.  I love these ladies.  I'm so thankful for their friendship.

The girls are all really close in age.  Kim's daughter, Reagan, is 7 months, my Emily is 5 months and Misty's Emily is 3 months.  I feel sure they're going to be good friends.:)

Thanks to Stan for coming home for the weekend to see us.  We love you!

Why I Love Toccoa

We were able to take a trip to Toccoa last weekend and we had such a great time!  I started thinking about all the reasons why I love that little town and I'd thought I'd share a few with you....

-I love that there is "nothing to do"
-I love that you wave to everyone as you drive by (even if you don't know them)...and they wave back
-I love that most of the town goes to the football game on Friday night
-I love that I've learned to enjoy just spending time w/ friends and family (probably b/c there was "nothing to do")
-I love that we didn't have a mall
-I love the memories I have of taking day trips to the mall in Atl w/ my Mom, Nanie, and Kate
-I love that we have a lake and our lake house was only 9 minutes from our house (the dock was my favorite place to go and have my quiet times w/ the Lord)
-I love that I can't go into Wal-Mart w/o seeing someone I know
-I love that all the shops downtown close on Sat at 2:00...because they can.
-I love our cute little mountain

Mostly, I just love the people.  I am thankful to Him that he allowed me to grow up in such a sweet town.

The Harmon's are back in Wake Forest...

Well they were back for a couple days....and we SO enjoyed having them here.  Patrick was here for a conference at Southeastern and Keri and Kayley came to hang out w/ Emily and I.  We took a walk, watched movies, chatted, and just enjoyed being together.  Kayley is on the move these days.  She is one fast crawler!  It was so fun to be able to see her at this stage...I'm sure the next time I see her she'll be walking all over the place.  It was also fun to watch Kayley and Emily together.  They did more staring at each other than playing w/ each other (mostly b/c Emily's not really at the "playing" stage), but it was still fun to see them together!

Kayley enjoying swinging in her old swing.  This girl loves to swing.  She laughed and laughed every time Keri gave her a push....it was fun to watch.:)

Sweet girls...we actually got Kayley to stay still and Emily to sit up so that we could get a picture of them together!:)

Here they are getting ready to cheer on the Tigers and Dawgs!  Their Daddy's are proud!:)

So I can't believe I didn't get a group picture of us while they were here, but I'll give you an old one.  This is one that we took just a couple weeks before they moved to Shelby, back in June.

We love y'all, Harmon's!  We are so thankful for your friendship!

Watts Visit

Bert's parents came for a visit over Labor Day weekend and we had such a wonderful time with them!  The weekend started off with them taking us out to a Japanese Restaurant (which just happens to be my favorite) in Raleigh.  I of course ate way too much, but it was sooo good!!  Emily was mesmerized by the cooking.  I thought she might take a nap, but there was way too much going on for that!:)

Sunday afternoon we went to the Duke Gardens.  It was absolutely beautiful!  It was the first time any of us had been, but Bert and I will definitely be going back.  It was so much fun to go w/ Linda b/c she is so knowledgeable about all the different types of plants and flowers.  I, on the other hand, can't tell the difference between a rose and a dandelion.  Okay, I'm exaggerating a little, but not much.:)

Emily fell asleep mid-bite...all the sightseeing was wearing her out!:)  She was great though, I don't think she cried one time the entire afternoon...

Linda's birthday was Monday (also Labor Day), and we drove down to the State Farmers Market in Raleigh.  We ate the State Farmers Market restaurant (I have to say, I think it is one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh...I just love all the fresh veggies.) and just enjoyed walking around and seeing everything.

On the way home we stopped by "Cookout" for a birthday milkshake!  We had never had one, but have heard how good they are.  They're definitely good, but if I have to choose I'd take ice cream over a milkshake any day of the week.:)

Emily loves her Grandmama!!  She's giving her a "happy birthday" hug.

We had such a great time visiting w/ y'all, Linda and Jeff!!  Thank you so much for making the trip up to see us and for loving us so well!!  We miss you already!

Small Group Overnight Get Together

Well we can not begin to tell you how thankful we are for our small group.  They encourage us, hold us accountable, challenge us, and the list could go on and on.  We thought it would be fun to have an over night get together to kind of reconnect as we have several new members and many of our regulars were out of town for the summer.  The guys went camping on Falls Lake and the girls went to dinner at Chili's and then came over to our apartment to spend the night.  Here are a few pictures from our time together....

The guys humored me w/ a group picture before they left! :)

Don't worry...Emily did not go camping.  She was just getting one last hug from her Daddy before he left!!

Girls at Chili's....

Emily wasn't overly happy at Chili's, but thankfully we had plenty of volunteer's to hold her!

We had such a great time....talking, playing games, talking, eating, and then more talking!  I am so thankful for you ladies in my life!  Love you!!

A Visit from the Sandridge's

Bert's sister, Alison, and her husband, Stephen, came to visit us in Wake Forest a few weeks ago!  We had such a great time!  They're  thinking about coming to Southeastern for seminary at some point so we were able to give them the grand tour of Wake Forest & Southeastern!  Here are a few pictures from our time w/ them...

Emily LOVES her Aunt Alison...can't you tell!?

We took Alison and Stephen on an unofficial tour of the seminary after church on Sunday....

Alison and Stephen loved on us so well while they were up here.  They took us out to dinner, we played games, watched movies, and they just encouraged us so much!  Thank you again for making the trip!  We love and miss y'all!!
