Movie Night

Last weekend we decided to have an early dinner and our first ever family movie night.  We weren't totally sure how Hannah was doing to like the idea, but we knew Emily would love it.  We made a pallet with blankets and all snuggled up together!  Emily just loved sitting between us on a pallet...she thought it was the best thing ever!

Hannah didn't watch much of the movie, but she stayed right around us.  I literally didn't have to get up one time to go get her (which if you know anything about this stage, is a big deal....she's getting into everything these days...and she crawls faster than lightning:) ).  I think she enjoyed us all being together too.:)

We loved our first family movie night and we're looking forward to many more to come.  We love making memories with our sweet girls!

WinterSpree

Over MLK weekend we took the youth from Mountain Creek up to WinterSpree in Pigeon Forge, TN for a conference with about 450 other students.  We had a great time!  We were so thankful to be a part of the conference.  The theme for the weekend was "Jesus is the HERO of every story."  So true!  Here are the girls in my room...Erica, Karson and Kaycee....love them!:)

We made a stop in Claire's during our afternoon in downtown Gatlinburg.  I haven't be in that store in awhile, but it really is pretty great!  It got me excited about taking Emily and Hannah in there one day.:)

Group picture!

Very thankful to my parents for keeping the girls for the weekend so that I could go too!  It was a fun trip with a GREAT group of students!

11 Months and First Step

Hannah turned 11 months on Jan 14th.  She also chose that day to take her first step!!  We were all four in the same room.  I was folding clothes, Emily was sitting on the bed "helping" me, and Bert and Hannah were playing in the floor.  Bert stood  Hannah up on her feet and instead of standing still or falling to her knees like she usually does, she took a step towards the bed.  We both couldn't believe it!  She only took one step, but we were so proud of our girl!  She's going to be toddling all over the house before we know it!

I got a few picture of her at 11 months.  Here is our little cutie:

Annnnd there goes the headband...

And there goes her sign....

Hannah is getting more an more personality, and it's so fun to watch.  As I said in my last post she cries when we get her out of the bathtub.  She has recently started loudly grunting/yelling when we take something away that she was holding. Her favorites are TV remotes and cell phones.  Still no teeth, but surely she'll get one soon!:)  She loves the playroom.  She crawls in there all the time and pulls out different toys.  Her favorite book is "Peek-a-WHO?"  She always plays with it and smiles the whole time I'm reading it.  She couldn't be any cuter is she tried.:)

We love you soooo much, Hannah, and we're SO excited about celebrating your first birthday in less than a month!  You are an absolute joy!

Greenville Children's Museum

We've heard great things about the Greenville Children's Museum, and after 7 months of living in G'ville we were finally able to go last weekend.  We had such a great time!  Emily loved it!  Hannah was still a bit young, but she was free and she had fun in several of the exhibits.

Here Emily was shopping in the market.  She couldn't get enough tomatoes.:)

Waiting her turn....are these kids not too cute pushing around their little buggies!?

I'm not sure if you can see it, but there is a big smile on her face!  This girl loves to go to the grocery store...well really any store, so it's no big surprise that she LOVED the market!:)

She also loved this slide in "Grandma Betty's Farmhouse."  I'm sure she slid down it at least 20+ times.

Hannah loved "Grandma Betty's" too.  They had a fun little soft play area for babies.  She loved diving over the soft wall.

We went to several other fun exhibits that I didn't get pictures in, but our last stop was the "Lilly Pad."  We had to change both of their outfits afterwards, but it was worth it...they had so much fun!

Emily was so focused on playing with all the water toys I couldn't get her to look up and smile.:)

Hannah gave me a sweet smile though!:)  She loves water.  She's started giving us the saddest look and crying when we get her out of the bathtub because she wants to stay and play.  She did the same thing when I got her out of this chair.  She just cried and cried.  People walking by probably thought I had pinched her.:)

It was a fun morning!  We so enjoyed the family time! We now understand what all the hype is about...it really is a great Children's Museum....we're already looking forward to our next trip!

Conversations with a 2 Year Old

1.)  Emily, Hannah and I were sitting at the kitchen table after we had just finished dinner...
Emily - Does Hannah have any teeth?
Me - No, not yet.
Emily - I can put some teeth in Hannah's mouth.
Me - Oh, yeah?  Where are you going to get the teeth?
Emily - I don't know yet.
Me - Oh, Okay. Well how are you going to put them in?
Emily - With my screwdriver that's in the bathtub.  It's red and green, you know?

Couple things....
A.)  She doesn't have a screwdriver in the bathtub, although I think I know which bath toy she's talking about.
B.)  Hannah, I promise we won't let her get a screwdriver or a bath toy near your mouth.:)

2.) Emily, Hannah and I went to Toccoa one afternoon last week so that I could go to a dentist appointment.  We were about 10 minutes from my parents' house when this conversation took place:
Emily - Mommy, my poopy is coming.
Me - Well, tell it to wait until we get to Mimi and Papa Stan's house.  We're almost there.
Emily - (In a very stern voice, while looking down at her bottom, and pointing her finger) Poopy, you wait!  Stay back!  We're almost to Mimi and Papa's.
Me -  Holding in laughter and not saying anything...
Emily - (about 1 minute later) Mommy, my poopy didn't listen.  It did come!

Playing Together

We brought the push toy back out for Hannah a few weeks ago and Emily has loved playing with it too.:)  Here is a picture of Emily talking to her Daddy (he's on speaker, but she's still holding it to her ear), while playing.  I just thought it was a cute picture of her in serious conversation.  In this picture I see a mixture of a 2 year old and a 14  year old.....I'm choosing to only look at the 2 year old side.:)

I told her to look at me and this is the look she gave me.  Ha!  Her look says "Mommmmm, I'm talking to Daddy."  Oh dear.:)

Hannah got a new push toy from Grandmama and PawPaw for Christmas, so now they both have one to play with.

She really likes it!  She's one proud little girl as she pushes her push toy around the house.  There is a grin on her face the entire time she's walking behind it.

Hannah - "Hey!  Look at me....no hands!!"

Hannah - "Still standing! This takes serious concentration, people!"

Our sweet girls.

This past weekend I had my first experience with having 2 kids sick at one time.  Let's just say we're worn out.:)  Some of you moms with 3+ kids are probably laughing at me.  They both had cold/cough/congestion, and Hannah's turned into an ear infection.  I know that they probably shared those germs with one another, and they'll probably share more germs over the weeks, months, and years ahead....but look at these two sweet girls playing together.  It melts my heart.  I love that they give each other kisses and hugs, make each other smile, play together, and just have each other.  Thankful.
