Claire - 9 months

Claire turned 9 months old last week.  That's basically a year.  Yikes.  She's just the sweetest little bundle of love.  She had a great 9 month check up which we are very thankful for.  She weighed 18.11 lbs and was in the 50 percentile for her weight.  She was 27 inches long and was in the 33rd percentile for her height.  The doctor said she expects her to have a growth spurt (height) in the next couple months, but she was very happy with everything.  

Claire at 9 months:

-Favorite Food: puffs, any baby food, broccoli, peas, other soft foods....still haven't found anything she doesn't like

-She's starting to crawl (will go about 4 or 5 knees in perfect form and then lunge) 

-She hasn't started pulling up on anything

-She just started sitting up from the laying down position this past week.  We just lowered her crib.  

-She's saying "Mama" and "Dada" often.  She's also said "Hey" and "Bye"

-She takes two naps a day about 1 1/2 hours each

-She cries as soon as we lay her down and will scream about 5 minutes before falling asleep.  

-She sleeps about 12 hours at night (from 8pm- 8am)

-She still sleeps in her sleep sack, with the sound machine on, with nothing else in the crib with her. 

-Her preferred mode of transportation is still rolling.  She's quite the professional.  

-I often send Emily or Hannah in to "tell Claire Mommy is coming" when she is waking up from a nap. She literally lights up when she sees them.  

-She's been getting 4, 6 oz bottles a day, but today we are making the switch to 3, 8 oz bottles.  I don't really think she's going to mind...she's a laid back baby.  

-She constantly watches her big sisters.  

-She said her first word on September 20th (8 1/2 months) Her first word was "Mama" but she said "Dada" later that same week.

-She got her first tooth on September 27th (littler over 8 1/2 months).  It didn't seem to bother her as it was coming in...she only has the one so far.  

-So she said her first words, got her first tooth and started taking a bottle all in the same week.  Exciting week!  

-She is on the move.  When I try to hold her in my lap to read her a book she often tries to shimmy down so that she can go explore the room.:)  

-She's been on formula/bottles for about 2 weeks now.  After round three of mastitis and then 6 plugged ducts in a row we decided it was time to wean the sweet girl.  I was so sad because I wanted to nurse her for her whole first year, but I totally agreed that it was best.  She had been refusing all bottles since she was about 5 weeks old, so the first day of switching her to bottles was hard.  For everyone.  Claire and I both cried many times.  By the end of the first day Claire decided she would go along with the whole bottle thing...thankful!
