SpiritFest and Fun Run

Our school's biggest fundraiser of the year is in October and it's called SpiritFest.  The kids look forward to it every year. The last two years it's been raining and they had to move everything inside, but this year it was a beautiful warm October day and it was SO much better to have everything spaced out around the school (inside and outside).

Before SpiritFest starts they have a Fun Run for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.  Each grade and gender runs separately.  Second and third grades run a half mile and fourth and fifth grades run a mile.  Emily decided she wanted to run in the race.  She hadn't ever run any kind of distance before so we tried to talk to her about pacing herself.  She was excited about it and really wasn't that nervous!

Getting ready to go.  Emily's the 3rd from the left in the picture below in the pink colored outfit.

And the 2nd grade girls are off!

This was Emily between her 1st and 2nd lap!  We were yelling loud!!!

She smiled the entire time!!

You can't really tell in the picture below, but Hannah is down on the far end of the field from where we are standing and she's running in the grass along with Emily.  She was so proud and excited for her sister.  She didn't run the whole thing with her but she ran with her for different parts of the race and I LOVE seeing our girls cheer each other on.

I didn't remember to talk about this in the Terrific Kid's post but Emily couldn't have been more excited for Hannah to get the Terrific Kid award.  I was so proud Emily for not saying one time that she wished she'd gotten it for her class....she was just excited for Hannah!

Emily finished the whole two laps and ran the whole way without stopping.  We were really proud of her for her first time running any kind of distance!!

At SpiritFest they have all kinds of food, and bounce houses, and booths and games and a cake walk and a fire truck that you can tour and a HUGE silent auction and SO much more!!

Claire enjoyed her "ice ceam" also known as a snow cone!

Emily and Hannah both got their face painted.  Claire didn't want to at the time, but decided later that she did (after the line was long).

They even got to take a picture with the Tiger!!

It was a fun afternoon and evening and we were all 6 worn out by the end of the night!  We love our school!
